Terra Nova Nurseries unveiled its newest echinacea, Echinacea Revelation “Monarch.” The addition attracts pollinators and adds vibrant color to landscapes with its large peach-orange blooms.
Echinacea Revelation “Monarch” joins its sister variety, Echinacea Revelation “Coral.” “Monarch” was bred as a landscape plant to have sturdy stems and present a mounding habit with good foliage cover. Butterflies, hummingbirds and other pollinators flock to its warm-toned, peachy, well-scented petals that light up garden beds and border edges with their brilliant color. Its large center cone has hosts of finches visiting in the fall, gathering a snack as they pass through.
Terra Nova’s Revelation “Monarch” matures in full sun and grows most actively in summer, blooming from June through October and reaching a height of 24 inches, width of 30 inches and flower height of 30 inches. This perennial benefits from being kept moist to slightly dry between waterings during greenhouse growing. Finishing growers can expect the finish time from a liner to a 4-inch pot to be six to eight weeks; finish time from a liner to a 1-gallon pot is 12-14 weeks. USDA Hardiness Zones for the company’s new addition to its Echinacea Revelation Series are 4-9.
Terra Nova Nurseries has created a “Plant Profile” page and “Grower Recipe” specific to this new variety, so growers interested in orders can learn about growing habits, plant characteristics, fertilization recommendations, water requirements and other insights provided by the breeding team. These documents can be viewed and downloaded for printing here.
