LOCATION Utah County, Utah

COMPANY Sunline Landscapes

DETAILS This large residential estate project features integrated hardscapes, water elements, historic design references and long-term landscape maintenance. Sunline Landscapes serves as both the original construction partner and the ongoing maintenance provider.

Before renovations, the site had strong bones but lacked cohesion and usability.

“The homeowners envisioned transforming it into a destination-style environment that felt immersive, private and timeless while still respecting the site’s natural and historical context,” says Taylor Anderson, systems development and growth manager at Sunline Landscapes.

Scale and complexity were the primary obstacles. The property size, existing mature trees, water features and architectural constraints required careful coordination. A public river runs through the property, and the city maintains a shutoff point that requires consistent access.

Sunline addressed these challenges through phased planning, specialty crews for specimen plantings and close collaboration between its construction and maintenance teams to ensure long-term performance.

To preserve the property’s heritage, the team softened the architecture with flowing plants, natural stone and traditional layouts.

In 2025, the National Association of Landscape Professionals honored Sunline Landscapes with a gold award in its Awards of Excellence program for its work on this project.

Sunline continues to maintain the property. The design team also coordinates with a trusted partner to manage the water feature so it remains balanced and fully functional. (Photo: Dave Koch at R\E Media Utah)
