Albaugh introduced Colonel XTR algaecide to the U.S. market as it receives registration from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA Reg. No. 89442-70).

Colonel XTR aims to deliver simple, efficient control of a broad range of aqueous algae, including filamentous, planktonic and macrophytic species, according to the company. Its copper ethanolamine complex is designed to penetrate algal cells and deliver more active ingredient to the target area, controlling algae from the inside out.

Users can expect a visible control response within a few days of application. The specialized formulation in Colonel XTR reduces copper precipitation with carbonates and bicarbonates and helps prevent mineral antagonism in water, improving the efficiency of the active ingredient.

“Algae growth and algae blooms can quickly degrade water quality and create unsightly conditions,” says Justin Watts, director — Albaugh Specialty Products. “Colonel XTR has demonstrated outstanding performance against all types of algae, improving oxygen and pH levels as well as light penetration in treated water.”

“Applicators familiar with traditional sulfate-based algaecides will undoubtedly see improved efficacy with Colonel XTR. It delivers enhanced copper uptake and rapid control response, resulting in more consistent and reliable performance,” Watts added.
