ATHENS, GA — The Trial Gardens at the University of Georgia (UGA) are nationally known for trialing annuals and perennials for the Southeast, and developing new plants for the horticulture industry.
Come join other Green Industry professionals on Wednesday, June 17, for an enjoyable morning (rain or shine) of camaraderie while viewing the good, the bad and the ugly of new annuals and perennials. The trials provide firsthand landscape performance for the plants under harsh conditions of heat and humidity. The garden has also become 90% sustainable, reducing inputs wherever possible. Although this garden is open year-round, this special open house also offers:
* Guided tours and opinions by Dr. Allan Armitage
* Colleagues to meet, greet and do business with
* Lunch prepared by the folks of Ball Horticultural
* Ideas into sustainability
Donations to the garden are welcome; all donations are used for maintenance of the garden and hiring students.
An RSVP is appreciated, although not necessary, at ugatrialgardens@gmail.com. Please respond no later than June 14, 2009. Detailed directions to the Gardens are located at ugatrial.hort.uga.edu.
