Benary’s Ptilotus exaltatus ‘Joey’ recently won the Glass Tulip award from FloraHolland in the category of bedding plants. Each year, the FloraHolland flower auction presents the award to the most successful introductions in the categories cut flowers, houseplants, garden plants and sales concepts. A native to central Australia, Ptilotus offers heat and drought tolerance. Joey features large, conical spikes of feathery flowers that top thick silver green foliage. The 3- to 4-in. bottlebrush flower spikes are silver with a darker pink color near the tips. It reaches heights from 12 to 18 in. It can be used as an accent in mixed containers or as a complement in annual flower beds. It is hardy in USDA Zones 9b to 11. Benary
