Los Angeles-based private equity group Century Park Capital Partners launched Green Summit Landscape Group, a newly formed platform created to build a full-service landscape, snow and water management organization in the United States. The launch is anchored by the acquisition of R&D Landscape, a founder-led, comprehensive landscaping company based in Lansing, Mich., which serves as Green Summit’s initial platform investment.
The company’s founders and leadership team retained meaningful ownership and continue to lead the business as Green Summit’s initial platform, supporting growth across Michigan and beyond.
“We found a partner that understood what we’ve built at R&D and respected the people and legacy behind it,” said Clay Carstensen, CEO of R&D Landscape. “Century Park’s long-term mindset and collaborative approach allow us to preserve our culture while gaining the resources, capital and expertise to grow profitably — enabling us to create career paths, growth potential, ongoing learning opportunities and rewards for our team.”
Green Summit also acquired Lansing, Mich.,-based LandMark Landscape, a 43-year-old company offering maintenance, irrigation, design and snow management services to residential and commercial customers.
The combination of R&D and LandMark strengthens Green Summit’s presence in the Midwest while expanding scale, capabilities and resources for customers and employees while preserving their local culture and operating philosophy that have driven both companies’ success.
“Bringing LandMark into Green Summit is exciting because they’re a local company that shares our values and commitment to customers, employees and the community,” said Russ Thorn, co-founder of R&D. “Together, we gain resources, expertise and capacity to better serve our clients and employees.”
Guy Zaczepinski, managing Partner at Century Park, said, “Both R&D and LandMark are the types of founder-led, service-driven businesses we seek to partner with: Firms that have strong leadership, an exceptional reputation and a culture built around people and customers.”
Nat Bacon, principal at Century Park, said, “Our investment in these companies demonstrates our commitment to the Michigan and Midwest markets, as well as partnering with owners who care deeply about their teams, customers and communities.”
Green Summit is supported by a multidisciplinary board with expertise across landscaping operations, workforce development, sales and marketing, supply chain, finance and technology.
