The American Society of Irrigation Consultants (ASIC) reached its goal of raising $25,000 to create an annual $1,000 memorial scholarship in honor of ASIC’s past president, Ivy Munion.
ASIC has partnered with the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) Foundation as an association ambassador to administer and implement the newly created Ivy Munion Langendorff Irrigation Scholarship. The first scholarship award will be presented by an ASIC representative at the 2017 NALP National Collegiate Landscape Competition (NCLC) in March in Provo, Utah. ASIC will select a student who has demonstrated a strong interest in a career in the irrigation industry.
The $25,000 goal was met in less than two months.
Munion died May 23 after a long battle with cancer. A 27-year industry veteran, she was the owner of ISC Group, a consulting firm in Livermore, Calif., and the first female president of ASIC.
