ASIC names 2015 Excellence in Irrigation Award winners

ASICThe American Society of Irrigation Consultants (ASIC) bestowed its 2015 Excellence in Irrigation Awards to Ken Merboth of Water Scape and Bob Scott of Irrigation Consultant Services. Merboth won the award in the residential category, while Scott won it in the golf category.

Merboth’s team designed a system that reduced water by 50 percent over the existing irrigation system and landscape. Meeting the goal required a collaborative effort between the landscape architect, irrigation consultant and irrigation contractor, as well as a commitment to sustainability and water conservation.

For Scott, the degree of difficulty was compounded by the project location—Stone Mountain Golf Course, a historically significant and environmentally protected area in Georgia. Construction in the lake and in the shoreline buffer was prohibited, necessitating some creative solutions by the irrigation consultant. Scott completed the job while complying with various county, state and federal regulations.

The goal of ASIC’s Annual Excellence in Irrigation Awards is to recognize outstanding independent irrigation consultants while promoting the value of project designs that incorporate the needs and resources of clients with the most progressive science and engineering available.
