As part of the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute’s (OPEI’s) Research & Education Foundation’s TurfMutt environmental stewardship and education program, Scholastic is accepting entries for its “Be a Backyard Superhero” essay contest from children in grades K-5 through April 13.
Teachers and parents may submit their students’ or children’s essays and illustrations online. In 150–200 words, students must describe how they are “backyard superheroes,” plus draw a picture of their missions.
Two grand prize-winning schools will win $5,000 to improve outdoor green spaces.
