The Ohio State University (OSU) launched a crowdfunded research project to identify the genes that allow certain ash trees to build a resistance to emerald ash borer (EAB), Entomology Today reports.
Conducted by David Showalter, a Ph.D. candidate in plant pathology at OSU, the project aims to reach $8,500 in funding, with the ultimate goal being to breed North American and European ash trees with EAB resistance.
