Holganix is bringing back its Holganix Roots for You competition for a second year.
The goal of the contest is to unearth the healthiest turf roots in America. The competition is divided into three industry segments: lawn care, golf and sports turf. The winner of each category is awarded a $500 cash prize as well as a $500 donation made in their name to their professional industry association.
The lawn care association donation will go to the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET), while the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) will receive the golf donation and the Sport Turf Management Association (STMA) will be the recipient of the sports turf donation.
“We were very happy with the outcome of last year’s competition and are excited to be bringing it back for a second year,” said Holganix CEO Barrett Ersek. “Last year’s lawn care winner, Total Lawn Care of Indianapolis, boasted a 13-inch root.”
The golf winner last year was Noble Hawk Golf Links of Indiana with a 9 1/2-inch turf root, while the Pittsburgh Pirates were named winner for the sports turf division with their 9-inch turf root.
