Rain Bird has launched an initiative to educate and inform irrigation professionals and homeowners about the water-saving benefits of pressure-regulating irrigation system components. The initiative, named “Project PRS,” began on July 1 as part of Smart Irrigation Month.
“Rain Bird is the only irrigation system manufacturer to offer both sprays and rotors with in-stem pressure regulation,” said Shannon Geno, product manager for Rain Bird rotors. “We’ve tested these products outdoors in real-world conditions, and we’ve found that they can save significant amounts of water at sites with high or fluctuating water pressure. Smart Irrigation Month seemed like a natural time to launch Project PRS and get the conversation started nationwide so that more people can benefit from this technology.”
Beginning July 1 and ending on October 4, contractors can enter the Project PRS contest at rainbird.com/prs by sharing data about sites where they’ve installed pressure-regulating components, with water-savings being the ultimate goal. Every other week throughout the contest, Rain Bird will announce a winner based on water savings from PRS technology to receive a $500 credit valid for use at their local Rain Bird distributor. Project PRS will feature useful tools that explain the importance or pressure-regulating irrigation sprays and rotors. The site includes videos, a Twitter feed featuring tweets with the hashtag #ProjectPRS, water-savings calculators and site reports. The mobile-enhanced site will also feature a special online contest just for irrigation professionals.
