Employees of Exmark, based in Beatrice, Neb., recently raised $14,350 for the American Cancer Society during a Relay for Life event. Ten employees participated in the overnight walk, which was held on April 27.
“We had a team member walking during each hour of the event, even during the overnight,” said Exmark’s Nichole Allen, the company’s team captain for the event. “Relay for Life is an amazing experience, one that gives us the opportunity to honor family members and loved ones who have been affected by cancer. We also walk to support the children who are bravely battling cancer themselves, or have lost a parent to cancer.”
Months before the event, Exmark hosted a variety of fundraising activities for the 2013 Relay for Life. Activities included a raffle, hosted lunches, a bowl-a-thon, equipment and surplus merchandise sales and denim days a promotion where employees could purchase four weeks of casual dress for $25.
Exmark was one of 28 teams to participate in the event from Beatrice and Gage County. Exmark was recognized as the largest fundraiser in the event which raised $68,000.
