
Yamaha Motor Corp. released its new off-road Wolverine RMAX 1000 line of two- and four-seat Side-by-Side (SxS) models.
The all-new Wolverine RMAX2 1000 and RMAX4 1000 Side-by-Sides include Standard, XT-R Edition (XT-R), and Limited Edition (LE) models set in an all-new and impressive chassis featuring a new engine, new Yamaha Drive-Mode (D-Mode) power-delivery system and FOX iQS suspension technology. The RMAX 1000 models join Yamaha’s Wolverine family of recreational-based SxS vehicles, which includes the enhanced 2021 Wolverine X2 and X4 R-Spec and XT-R configurations.

Wolverine RMAX2 1000 and RMAX4 1000 top features include:
- 999cc DOHC, eight-valve, parallel-twin engine with 8,500 rpm redline
- Yamaha D-Mode: Integrating Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) “Drive-by-Wire” system adapted from Yamaha’s YZF-R1 supersport motorcycle, Yamaha created the only SxS offering three custom drive modes.
- Heavy-duty, comfort-focused and easy-adjust FOX 2.0 QS3 suspension complements. LE models are equipped with FOX’s Intelligent Quick Switch (iQS) technology, allowing drivers to adjust suspension settings from the cockpit on-the-fly.
- 30-inch tires on the Wolverine RMAX2 1000 and 29-inch tires on the Wolverine RMAX4 1000: Standard RMAX2 1000 models are equipped with the versatile GBC Dirt Commander 2 radial tires developed alongside the vehicle, while the popular Maxxis Carnivore radials are supplied on XT-R and LE editions. The RMAX4 1000 is armed with Yamaha-exclusive Maxxis Carnage radial tires on XT-R and LE models and GBC Dirt Commanders on standard versions.
- The Yamaha Adventure Pro powered by Magellan is now dash-mounted and fully-integrated on XT-R and LE models
- Wolverine RMAX2 1000 features a piston-assist tilting cargo bed, while the Wolverine RMAX4 1000’s simple-sliding rear seats allow for flexible storage or passenger solutions. Both vehicles boast a 600-pound bed capacity, 2-inch hitch receiver, and 2,000-pound towing capacity.
The 2021 Wolverine RMAX2 1000 is available at Yamaha dealers nationwide starting at a $19,799 MSRP in alpine white and armor gray. The Wolverine RMAX4 1000 is available in armor gray starting at a $21,299 MSRP. XT-R Editions are available in covert green, starting at a $21,999 MSRP. LE models are available in cobalt metallic blue with all XT-R upgrades, plus Fox iQS shocks, and a factory-installed stereo system starting at a $23,299 MSRP.
