Whisper Aero revealed the first electric tow-behind blower powered by WhisperDrive technology. It delivers powerful 250N performance while operating under 65 dBA. Whisper’s tow-behind blower leverages multiple WhisperDrives for large-scale maintenance efforts where moving air quietly and efficiently is necessary.
Whisper Aero will showcase the new blower at the 2024 Equip Exposition, held Oct. 15-18 in Louisville, Ky. It will be an ultra-quiet performance live at LM’s booth (#4019) and Whisper Aero’s booth (#42316).
Over the past year, Whisper Aero has engaged landscaping services, businesses and neighborhoods to uncover a need for quieter blowers. Localities, cities, and states are implementing stricter noise ordinances, which limit outdoor power equipment to operating below 65 dBA. Traditional gas-powered blowers far exceed these limits, restricting their usage. Existing battery-powered alternatives often lack the power and runtime for large-scale tasks.
Whisper found a solution for professionals who need to clear large areas like golf courses, parks, and commercial spaces quietly and efficiently. The handheld leaf blower Whisper released last year proved it was possible to move 40% more air, with 40% less power, and 16 dB less than other handheld electric alternatives. The team asked themselves if leveraging the advantages of distributed electric propulsion could unlock a transformative product.
The result was an electric tow-behind blower that combined the power of ten professional leaf blowers into one machine. The Whisper Tow-Behind Blower’s ten-fan array amplifies airflow and thrust. Each WhisperDrive within the Tow Behind operates electrically with 45 dBA at 50’ for emission-free and ultra-quiet performance.
Golf courses can schedule more tee times and parks can maintain cleanliness without disturbing patrons. The Whisper Tow Behind Blower represents the company’s vision for the future of quiet and efficient outdoor maintenance equipment. Instead of bringing this product directly to market, the company aims to license the WhisperDrive technology and design to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), offering them the flexibility to modify the number of fans and performance parameters to meet their needs.
“By integrating ten WhisperDrive fans into one powerful yet quiet unit, we’ve created a concept that redefines what’s possible in outdoor power equipment,” said Andrew Terajewicz, head of product at Whisper Aero. “Our goal is to collaborate with manufacturers, providing the WhisperDrive technology to develop their own next-generation products that meet both performance demands and regulatory requirements.”
