Waterloo Turf, a synthetic grass franchise dedicated to helping people reclaim their Saturdays back, has signed several new territories in North Dallas. Additionally, Waterloo Turf is expanding its footprint in its home state of Texas, with new franchise agreements signed in Waco and College Station, increasing its total Texas territories to 27.

Franchise partner Stephen Tong will be overseeing service throughout Waco and College Station. Stephen has a background in law enforcement, having been a deputy sheriff, a member of SWAT, a K9 handler, a field handler, a field training officer and a detective in the major crimes unit. After 10 years in law enforcement, he decided to pursue his dream of becoming an entrepreneur.

“While looking for business opportunities, I came across Waterloo Turf. I knew it was a perfect match because of the brand’s vision, mission, and team-mentality culture,” Tong said. “A lot of my previous experience in project management within Law Enforcement has helped tremendously on my journey to business ownership. Waterloo Turf made it so easy to transition despite my lack of experience; the software and support they give to franchisees is unmatched.”

With nearly 20 years of corporate leadership behind him, franchisee Zephrin Allen will be serving areas throughout North Dallas such as Mckinney, Rockwall, Plano, Princeton, Anna and Greenville. Coming from a successful career in corporate America, Allen has built a reputation as a leader managing large teams and complex operations. These experiences provided the foundation for his pursuit of a franchise: a chance to leverage his management and strategic skills in his own venture.

Texas offers strong potential for franchise growth, supported by its low tax structure, pro-business environment and growing population. According to Medium, Texas boasts no state income tax, which is a significant advantage for businesses and individuals alike. The state is also supported by a strong infrastructure and a diverse labor force.

“Expanding into Waco, North Dallas and College Station is an exciting next step for us in Texas, our home state. With local owners on the ground, we can provide exceptional and personalized services for both families and businesses,” said Tim Lovett, co-owner and CEO of Waterloo Turf. “From creating low-maintenance yards that give families more time to enjoy their weekends, to helping businesses improve their spaces and serve their customers, it’s all about making a positive difference in the everyday lives of people in these communities.”

The brand has garnered franchise interest with a current total of 32 territories under development, since having launched its franchise opportunity in December 2024. Led by leaders in both franchising and turf and backed by investors with over 60 years of combined franchise experience across 13 different brands, Waterloo Turf’s franchise opportunity was built off streamlined operations and ongoing corporate support. Waterloo Turf is seeking franchisees with a “team captain” mindset, offering a 10% discount to owners who are ex-NCAA athletes and ex-military.
