TruGreen among top 100 companies for Latinos

Memphis-headquartered TruGreen was named in Latino magazine’s top 100 companies for Latinos, which was listed in the magazine’s Spring 2014 issue.

In selecting the 2014 Latino 100Latino evaluated corporations based on nominations submitted formally and informally by Latino nonprofits, community organizations, readers, partners and stakeholders.

In 2013, TruGreen launched a Healthy Green Space Initiative to work with Latino and African Americans leaders in identifying and helping to restore parks and green spaces. The company also helps build public-private partnerships, which include local government, businesses, faith-based and community outreach groups who have a role to play in “adopting” such areas and restoring them to a place children can play. Such partnerships are in place to advance the understanding of the childhood obesity issue and the need for healthy diet and exercise.

“We are honored to be recognized by Latino magazine for our commitment to restoring healthy green spaces in urban communities,” said David Alexander, president and CEO for TruGreen. “We know childhood obesity is a serious health issue and that healthy green spaces are critical to the fight. TruGreen is in the business of creating healthy green spaces, so working with Latino and other community leaders on this issue is a natural for us.”
