The American Green Zone Alliance (AGZA) awarded the Stihl RZA battery-powered zero-turn mower platform and Oso Electric Equipment with its AFTC (AGZA Field Test Certification), joining a short list of companies in this category.
Stihl RZA platform
AGZA has subjected multiple Stihl RZA mowers to difficult field-testing environments to ensure an independent assessment of this line’s performance, durability and longevity. These real-world, day-in and day-out settings represent the reality of the industry’s workload and aesthetic demands for their clientele, according to the company.
These tests included having the Stihl RZA mowers placed in various regions nationwide, including the West Coast, Midwest and Southeast. Additionally, AGZA was able to visit and verify the robust use of Stihl RZA mowers in the Northeast, parts of Colorado, Texas and northern California. Testing in these regions allows for operation in different temperature extremes, moisture and humidity levels, dusty environments and provided insights into contrasting attitudes toward battery electric technologies for outdoor power equipment.
The Stihl RZA platform joins a growing list of battery electric riding mower platforms aiming to meet the landscape maintenance industry’s demands. Built for professional landscapers, this series combines intelligent cutting technology with an improved drive system.
Oso Electric Equipment
The AGZA also awarded Oso Electric Equipment with AFTC for its Oso 21-inch Commercial Electric Smart Lawnmower, placing Oso in the AFTC network of companies who design and manufacture qualified battery electric equipment for the landscape maintenance industry.
Oso’s rugged design and cut quality in the 21-inch self-propelled walk-behind category has proven worthy of AGZA’s testers, including high-volume gardeners that often need to operate equipment year-round. According to the company, this seal of approval indicates the Oso 21-inch mower is a legitimate contender to replace gas-powered equipment.
With the AGZA AFTC testing collaboration, Oso Electric Equipment has indicated that it has a roadmap for electrifying the outdoor power equipment (OPE) industry with future developments.
