The Street Keeper Honeylocust has a canopy that is about half as wide as other honeylcusts, and its leaves are darker green. It was introduced by J. Frank Schmidt & Son Co. and Tim Brotzman, and won the Best Tree award at the recent Farwest green industry show. It’s parent tree was discovered growing on a city street in New York, according to the Farwest show, and Street Keeper is well suited to follow in its parent’s footsteps. As a street tree, it can reach 45 ft. in height, but only spread about 20 ft. The tree’s leaves turn yellow in the fall.
