SnowEx introduced its new Helixx stainless steel hopper spreaders.
The spreaders feature the Helixx material delivery system, a design that helps optimize material flow.
The corkscrew, or “helix,” design of the material delivery system is optimized for efficient and cost effective use of salt, and it was designed to operate in the target range for salt spreading best practices. The Helixx runs the entire length of the hopper with variable flights, promoting even unloading of material.
With a prewet and direct liquid application kit, which includes prewet tanks, a pump and a spray kit, the spreaders have the ability to prewet materials or spray brine directly onto the driving surface for anti-icing applications. All functions are controlled from the in-cab switch.
Compatible with full-size pickups, flatbed trucks or dump-bed trucks, the hopper lineup includes five different models, including capacities of 1.5, 2, 3, 4.5 and 6 cubic yards. Both the hopper and frame are constructed of corrosion-resistant stainless steel. The frame boasts a unique leg and sill design to form a ridged backbone structure for greater longevity.
The cab-forward hopper design delivers good payload distribution to reduce stress on the truck. The Helixx extends beyond the hopper and into the patented prewet mixing chamber to help prevent leaking/spilling during transport while providing a location for prewetting material.
Baffles within the chute direct material to key areas on the spinner, resulting in an even and consistent spread pattern and reducing material directed back at the vehicle. Three spinner height adjustments (standard on the 3-, 4.5- and 6-cubic-yard models) allow the spreaders to achieve a consistent spinner height of 18 to 22 inches off the ground, regardless of vehicle type.
Dual variable-speed control allows independent adjustment of spinner and Helixx speeds for precise material delivery, whether at low or high output. It also features no-blast startup, autoreverse and it integrates with accessories for simple plug-and-play operation.
Additional standard features include an inverted V, vibrator, accessory hub, dump switches, flip-up/removable chute, fork pockets and a top screen. Other available accessories include steel hopper covers, spill guards, chute extension kits (1.5- and 2-cubic-yard models), work light kits (primary and auxiliary), a strobe light kit, a chain kit, a ratchet strap kit, truck mount kits, and hopper side and vehicle side harness kits.
