Raleigh, N.C.-based investment firm Triangle Capital Corp. closed a $10.3 million investment in Rotolo Consultants Inc. (RCI). The transaction consists of second lien debt and equity.
RCI is a Slidell, La.-based landscape construction and maintenance firm. With $38 million in 2014 revenue, it ranks No. 34 on the 2015 LM150 list of the largest landscape companies.
The company has had significant growth over the past few years and has built a “scalable business model” to absorb that growth, RCI President Keith Rotolo told LM. According to LM150 figures, the company grew revenue 85 percent from 2013 ($21 million) to 2014 ($38 million).
“We feel the company is capable of not only continuing the current growth curve but can accelerate our growth via a combination of organic growth and strategic acquisitions,” he said. “The recapitalization just completed will allow RCI to pursue both growth strategies.”
RCI will expand in its current markets (southern Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee) and it is also considering expanding into adjacent markets, Rotolo said. The growth focus is in the landscape maintenance division, and the company is also exploring additional services ancillary to landscape maintenance.
Triangle Capital is a publicly traded business development company with $1.1 billion under management as of December 2014, according to the Triangle Business Journal.
