Plows & Mowz raised an additional $5 million in funding from a large strategic investor.
Plowz & Mowz is an on-demand mobile outdoor home maintenance marketplace that helps homeowners find landscaping solutions.
The $5 million raised supplements the $2 million in seed money that the company secured less than 2 years ago, bringing the company’s total funding to $7 million.
“Eighty-five million homeowners in the U.S. need lawn, tree and driveway care but have not had the ability to book quickly on demand,” said Andrew Englander, co-founder of Plowz & Mowz. “This round of funding will further our ability to consolidate the massive $100-billion-plus outdoor home services market.”
To book home maintenance services, users enter their home address and a description of their lawn or driveway, then tap their smartphone to schedule service.
Services include mowing, yard cleanup, mulching, trimming and pruning, aeration, overseeding, fertilizing, driveway sealing, haul-away, power washing and tick spraying.
The app’s proprietary algorithm and instant pricing pairs the homeowner with a highly rated and insured professional landscaping company, Plowz & Mowz said. The customer receives real-time ETA updates and photos of the completed job through the app.
Plowz & Mowz will also continue its partnership with Science Inc., a company that invests in disruptive startups.
“The Plowz & Mowz team has proven there’s a major unmet demand for this kind of service and is scaling at an impressive pace,” said James Hicks, principal at Science Inc. “We’re eager to see what they accomplish next.”
The free app is available through iTunes and Google Play.
