The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) has released its updated technician training manuals that focus on installation, irrigation, and maintenance. The manuals can be used as study materials for the Landscape Industry Certified Technician — Exterior (formerly CLT-E) exam. These publications debuted at PLANET’s recent Green Industry Conference held in conjunction with the GIE+EXPO and can now be ordered online.
Over the last two years, PLANET says it has worked with the Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado (ALCC) to update and enhance these training manuals. Enhancements include revised flow of information, more practice problems, summaries, graphics and pictures, an index, and resource references.
The manuals also now include online access to more than 20 web-based videos in English and Spanish. Each segment demonstrates technician tasks that are commonly done incorrectly, but are considered important by industry experts.
“Along with the new format and updated content on technologies and equipment, there’s information about strategies to conserve energy and promote sustainable landscapes,” ALCC Executive Director Kristen Fefes, CAE, explains. “Advances in technology alone as it relates to the development of ‘smart’ controllers have required some dramatic changes in the irrigation study material, and all the books continue to emphasize the safe and productive operation of equipment.”
The set of 3 costs $255 for non-members and $170 for members. For more information about these new manuals, you may visit the PLANET Bookstore or call the bookstore at (800) 293-5542.
