
Scott Tilley, general counsel and member of the executive council of Stihl, was elected chairman of the Virginia Manufacturers Association. He was elected to the board in 2011 and has served as the vice chairman for the past two years. His past experience with associations includes work with Norfolk Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute. He currently serves as a governor appointee to the Virginia Manufacturing Development Commission.
Chapel Valley Landscape founder J. Landon Reeve IV is retiring as president and CEO. He will continue to serve as chairman of the board. He started the Woodbine, Md.-based company in 1968. After entering the industry in high school with a part-time, summer job, Reeves started his company after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in ornamental horticulture from the University of Maryland. In retirement, Reeve plans to continue serving on the board of the American Horticulture Society and Friends of the National Arboretum.
The Ohio Turfgrass Foundation (OTF) will award Jim Scott with the Professional of the Year Award at this year’s OTF Conference & Show and OSU Green Industry Short Course. Scott, who has a master’s degree from Ohio State in Agricultural Education, is a Landscape Design and Management instructor at Knox County Career County. He has spent the past 39 years training future industry professionals through programs he developed for FFA members and guiding his pupils toward careers in the industry.
Amber Goon, an account manager with Heads Up Landscape Contractors, was awarded one of four scholarships from the New Mexico chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW). The scholarship allowed Goon to attend the 2015 CREW Network convention and marketplace in Seattle, Wash., Sept. 30-Oct. 3. Initially hired by Heads Up as an intern in 2013, Goon works in maintenance business development where she specializes in new maintenance contracts for commercial properties.
Erin White, designer at Fockele Garden Co., earned her Landscape Architect License in Georgia. The yearlong process required passing the five required sections Landscape Architect Registration Examination (LARE); following of standards for professional licensure, which are prepared and administered through the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB); having a degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field; and 18 months of experience prior to taking the exam.
Ruppert Landscape’s Baltimore landscape management branch hired Timothy Bonner as a designer and promoted Collin Fadrowski to area manager. Bonner holds a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from Penn State University. With 31 years of experience in the landscape industry, Bonner previously held positions, including account manager and designer, with another industry organization. Fadrowski has 12 years of industry experience, previously working as crewman, supervisor and operations manager with other industry organizations before joining Ruppert in 2014 as field manager. He received a bachelor’s degree in business and entrepreneurship from Susquehanna University in 2009. Fadrowski is a Landscape Industry Certified Technician (CLT) in Turf Maintenance.
