Massey Services Chairman and CEO Harvey L. Massey was named one of 22 CEOs of the Year by Orlando Business Journal. The honorees include high-level executives at well-known or emerging companies across Central Florida who succeed in the workplace and give back to their communities. In November, the Orlando Business Journal also named Massey its Corporate Philanthropist of the year. Massey serves in executive roles in community organizations like the Orange County Arts and Cultural Affairs Task Force, the Central Florida Expressway Authority, United Way and more. Massey Services ranked No. 22 on the LM150 list of top revenue-generating firms.
LandCare promoted five employees as part of an initiative to foster internal career development. Formerly account managers, Casey Black and Kenny Culberson were promoted to branch managers. Black will lead the Inland Empire, Calif., branch, and Culberson will lead Dallas East. Quinton Peak and Jeremy Smartt were promoted to account managers in the Nashville, Tenn., and Dallas West locations, respectively. William Flipp III was promoted to production manager in the Richmond, Va., branch.
The Engines Division of Kawasaki Motors Corp. hired Dave Sugden as the director of research and development. Sugden has served in product development roles for 27 years, during which he oversaw various manufacturing and testing methods, designed an R&D facility and secured 15 patents. Most recently, he was director of product design and improvement at Scag Power Equipment. Sugden will head up the newly opened research development wing at the company’s Grand Rapids facility. At this new facility, the company also promoted Troy Smith from applications engineering supervisor to manager of R&D testing, applications and EFI; JJ Zeilstra from manager of government relations to manager of new development and government relations; and Matt Ulmenstine from applications engineer to applications engineering supervisor.
The National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) hired Rex Bishop as its first-ever director of technical education. An award-winning horticulture educator who has taught horticultural and landscaping at the college level for more than 25 years, Bishop most recently served as the vice president for economic development at Chattahoochee Technical College. Bishop has also volunteered with the National Collegiate Landscape Competition. He has an MBA from Kennesaw State University.
