
Peter Becker has retired as senior vice president and Mid-Atlantic division manager of Bartlett Tree Experts after 40 years with the company. John Smithmyer, previously assistant division manager, has been promoted to vice president and division manager. Becker joined Bartlett in 1973 as an intern and assumed the role of Mid-Atlantic division manager in 1989. He worked closely with Smithmyer, who has served as assistant division manager since 2005, in preparation for the transition. Smithmyer has been with the Company since 1999. “Through the years, Peter has been a stalwart leader at Bartlett and in the arboriculture industry,” said Robert Bartlett Jr., chairman and CEO of Bartlett Tree Experts. “I thank him for his contributions and wish him all the best in his retirement.”
Stihl named Mark Scavillo vice president of finance and information services. Scavillo, who started with the company in February 2009 as a manager of finance projects, has served as director of strategic planning and controlling since October 2012. He has a bachelor’s in business administration from American University and an international master’s of business administration from the University of South Carolina. Prior to joining Stihl, he worked for SAP in Germany in the internal audit department. Scavillo is replacing Bjoern Fischer, who was appointed president of Stihl on Jan. 1.
Gelderman Landscape Services, based in Waterdown, Ontario, named four new branch managers. Mark Conrad was hired as the Guelph, Ontario, branch manager. Conrad has experience in maintenance, snow removal and golf course maintenance. Martin Horsman, who started with Gelderman in 1983, was promoted to Kitchener, Ontario, branch manager. Scott Maxwell was named Mississauga, Ontario, branch manager. Maxwell started with Gelderman as an irrigation specialist and, most recently, served as a maintenance account manager. Mike Debeoer was promoted to branch manager of the Waterdown, Ontario, branch. Debeoer previously served the company as a maintenance account manager.
