On July 14, roughly 400 landscape and lawn care professionals from across the country will come together in Washington, D.C., for the National Association of Landscape Professionals’ annual Renewal and Remembrance service, applying their expertise to maintain two of the nation’s most sacred sites: the National Mall near the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery.

For nearly 30 years, Renewal and Remembrance has been one of the landscape industry’s largest days of service, with volunteers donating their time, skills and equipment to honor America’s veterans and public servants. This year, teams will carry out essential tasks such as pruning cherry trees at the FDR Memorial, applying lime, updating irrigation systems, protecting trees, installing plants, removing stumps and repairing hardscapes to preserve these historic green spaces for future visitors.

“Renewal and Remembrance is a powerful example of our industry’s deep commitment to community, country and stewardship,” said Britt Wood, NALP CEO. “It’s humbling to see so many professionals come together to care for sacred spaces that honor our nation’s heroes.”

This year’s event features a children’s program at Arlington National Cemetery aimed at teaching and involving the next generation in environmental stewardship and community service.

“We are incredibly honored to be sponsoring Renewal and Remembrance for a second year,” said Jason Mattern, president, outdoor commercial at Stanley Black and Decker. “This is an exceptional event, and we applaud the volunteers who come from all over the country to graciously donate their time and energy to show gratitude to those who serve our nation. We take great pride in being able to support and work alongside them and our partners at NALP during this impressive day of service.”

The event is made possible by support, equipment and materials from partners such as title sponsor Stanley Black and Decker, along with major contributions from NALP’s Elite Partners: Aspire Software, Caterpillar and Stihl.

Renewal and Remembrance is also supported by Gold Partners — Carter Machinery, Hunter Industries, John Deere and SiteOne Landscape Supply — as well as Silver Partners including Envu, Ewing Outdoor Supply, Greenworks Commercial, RealGreen by WorkWave and The Toro Company.
