The National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) highlighted its newest initiative at its Landscapes 2015 opening ceremony: the Industry Growth Initiative (IGI). IGI coincides with NALP’s “game plan” of promoting education, advocacy and professionalism to grow the landscape industry and guide it toward a successful future.
“It’s time for landscape professionals to be the voice of the industry,” said Missy Henriksen, vice president of public affairs for NALP.
According to NALP, IGI is a permanent program designed to grow and protect the industry.
“The Industry Growth Initiative is going to do three things,” said Scott Jamieson, president of NALP. “First, it’s going to create demand for our services. It’s going to grow the work force, which we know is a critical component to what we’re all trying to do; and lastly, it’s going to protect the industry.”
Additionally, IGI will increase peoples’ perceptions on what landscapers do on a daily basis, added Henriksen.
Henriksen also touched on some of NALP’s other future plans, which include launching a new website in February and developing an interactive online presence for children.
