Mulch Mate has unveiled its latest product, the HDT trailer, designed to help smaller landscaping companies access professional-grade equipment at a lower price point, according to the company.

The HDT is described as the “little brother” to Mulch Mate’s best-selling DMT trailer, offering a similar level of utility but with a simplified design and a lower price tag. The new trailer was developed in response to ongoing economic challenges that have made it difficult for many landscapers to invest in new trucks and equipment.

“We’ve seen the economy has been tough the last few years, and equipment purchasing has slowed a good bit, as well as truck purchasing,” Nick Carlson, founder of Dawson Manufacturing and Mulch Mate, said. “Our DMT trailer has been our best-selling product by far, largely because it’s almost half the investment of a new truck.”

With new trucks costing upwards of $100,000 and the DMT trailer starting at $55,000, Mulch Mate recognized that an even lower sales price was needed to appeal to many of the smaller landscaping companies wanting to invest in larger equipment.

According to the company, the HDT trailer addresses this gap by combining the Truck Mate HD, which retails for $17,909, with a stripped-down, wider-than-average dump trailer. The result is a versatile, heavy-duty trailer available in 10- and 12-foot models, with a base price of $34,909. The HDT weighs in at 4,000 pounds — much lighter than the DMT — and features a 14,000-pound axle setup. It can also accommodate heavy equipment, such as skid loaders, making it suitable for a variety of jobsite needs.

Customers can further customize the HDT with options such as a platform, enhanced lighting and a hydraulic jack. The company says financing is available for almost all buyers.
