The 29th edition of the National Association of Landscape Professionals’ (NALP) annual Renewal and Remembrance service event came to Washington, D.C., in July, with more than 400 landscape and lawn care professionals from around the country volunteering on projects at Arlington National Cemetery and the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial.

The landscape industry’s largest day of service, volunteers for Renewal and Remembrance donate their time, expertise and equipment to honor America’s veterans and public servants. This year, teams tackled projects such as pruning cherry trees, stump removal and mulching at the FDR Memorial and applying lime, planting flowers and hardscape improvements at Arlington.

“Renewal and Remembrance is a powerful example of our industry’s deep commitment to community, country and stewardship,” said Britt Wood, NALP CEO. “It’s humbling to see so many professionals come together to care for sacred spaces that honor our nation’s heroes.”

This year’s event included a children’s program at Arlington National Cemetery designed to educate and engage the next generation in environmental stewardship and civic service.

The event receives support, equipment and materials from a host of NALP partners, including title sponsor Stanley Black and Decker, with significant assistance from NALP’s additional Elite Partners Aspire Software, Caterpillar and Stihl.

Renewal and Remembrance also receives support from Gold Partners Carter Machinery, Hunter Industries, John Deere, SiteOne Landscape Supply and Silver Partners Envu, Ewing Outdoor Supply, Greenworks Commercial, RealGreen by WorkWave and The Toro Co.
