The honor shows K&D’s impact as a leader in the landscaping industry and its efforts to enhance the Central Coast region through eco-friendly practices and community outreach, according to the award.
K&D Landscaping, founded in 1986, has grown from a family-run business into a foundation of sustainable landscaping in California. With almost four decades of service, the company remains committed to its craft and its community.
Key accomplishments of K&D Landscaping include:
- Family-Owned and Operated: For nearly 40 years, K&D has kept its core values of providing exceptional service and advancing relationships within the local community.
- Employment and Growth: With 130 employees and a goal to expand to 300 by 2030, K&D is committed to creating local jobs and supporting economic growth.
- Community Beautification: K&D has completed 29 beautification projects, including contributions to local schools, shelters, and public spaces and focuses on improving the environment.
- Water Conservation Leadership: K&D was recognized nationally for its water-saving initiatives, including an irrigation program at Seascape Resort, saving over 1 million gallons of water annually.
- Sustainability Initiatives: By early 2025, all K&D maintenance crews will transition to using 100% battery-operated equipment, marking a significant shift toward environmentally sustainable operations.
In addition, K&D Landscaping is involved in promoting responsible water management. The company is hosting its fourth annual Water Summit in March 2025, bringing together experts to discuss innovative water conservation strategies. K&D also supports the community through events like its charity golf tournament, which raised $5,000 for United Way of Santa Cruz.
