Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, a distributor of low cab forward trucks, had its first NRR-EV truck be put into service. Operated by Red Bull North America, the Isuzu NRR-EV is delivering beverage products throughout Southern California. The company said this is a significant milestone for Isuzu and the medium-duty truck industry. With the advancement of powertrain technologies, collaboration on the body upfit and planning of routes, zero-emission deliveries and sustainability in the medium-duty segment are underway.

The NRR-EV has a 100-kWh powertrain with an estimated range of about 100 miles under full payload. The range can vary based on driving style, use of the cab’s comfort features and use of the adjustable regenerative braking system.  The braking system recharges the battery with energy captured when the vehicle is coasting or slowing down. With a lightweight, all-aluminum 6-bay beverage body, the vehicle’s design maintains its cargo capacity. The NRR-EV’s 19,500-pound GVWR (Class 5) provides a hefty payload of around 9,000 pounds with this body.

The company said the NRR-EV embodies Isuzu’s commitment to delivering excellence and pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the commercial vehicle industry. With its technology, styling and electric powertrain, the Isuzu NRR-EV aims to redefine the driving and ownership experience for North American customers, according to the company.

“Today marks a major milestone for the industry and for us. Watching the NRR-EV evolve from a concept to a viable operating product is a big deal,” said Shaun Skinner, Isuzu president. “Our teams and our clients have put so much time and effort into making this happen, and it speaks to our teamwork and dedication to more sustainable transportation solutions. It is no longer just a plan; we have zero-emission trucks serving our customers’ needs.”
