In an effort to uplift the community of Newtown, Conn., where a shooting took place at Sandy Hook Elementary in 2012, Winterberry Irrigation donated its labor to spruce up an unlovely soccer field in town.

Using materials provided by local vendors, the Southington, Conn.-based company repaired the field and installed a new irrigation system.

“We knew from day one that we wanted to give back to a community that had endured so much heartache,” said Jamie Gorton, general manager at Winterberry. “We wanted to build something that kids today and in future generations will use with pleasure and pride.”
