DETAILS Even in landscaping, sometimes life can feel like a movie.
At least that might ring true for California’s Cadre Landscape thanks to their longstanding agreement with Sony Pictures to manage their roughly 45-acre studio lot.
And just like the film and television shows getting made on-site, there’s a lot of work going on behind the scenes (literally) to always keep the landscaping pristine, according to Cadre Landscape president Julio Lopez.
“These people make film and television shows, and they make make-believe. We need to stay on top of that and try to impress them with renderings, with mock-ups, with the pictures of before and after,” he says. “Since we began in 2014, it’s been great, and that has helped us to grow and develop.”
And Lopez says with a high-end film and TV production site, there are multiple unique challenges that they’ve had to overcome. Switching from gas to electric tools to eliminate noise, creating weekly schedules to work around filming schedules and needing to repair any damage caused by on-site events are just the tip of the iceberg.
