Heads Up gives students experience

|

Heads Up Landscape Contractors has announced that 14 student interns from five colleges will gain 12 weeks of on-the-job experience.

The company has had an intern program for the past seven years. “Each year we find the best and brightest business, landscape and horticulture students from around the country,” said Heads Up Landscape Contractors CEO Gary Mallory. “We believe that landscape design, installation and maintenance can be a great career, and love helping students who are as passionate about ‘growing better’ as we are.”

The students are studying business, landscape design, landscape management, horticulture and other disciplines. They include Corine Garcia, Amber Goon, Terra London, Kyle Mazzei, Jake Mechenbier, Patrick Partridge, and Katie Schroeder from UNM Anderson School of Business; Landon Huckins, Tyler Maly and Anna Oostong from Oklahoma State University; Kellen Stewart and Lance Wright from Kansas State University; and Michael Vampran from Mississippi State University.

The company, which is based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. It is one of the 100 largest landscape firms in the country that designs, installs and maintains commercial and residential landscapes and is a leader in the xeriscape industry.
