Gravely redesigns Pro-Walk
Gravely unveiled its redesigned Pro-Walk commercial walk-behind mower.
“The new Gravely Pro-Walk was designed following feedback that we’ve received from landscape contractors across the country,” said Trae Humphreys, senior commercial product manager of Ariens Co. “It features upgrades that increase efficiency and make this mower one of the easiest walk-behinds to operate. We really kept the user in mind when going through this redesign and incorporated things that would make (his) job easier.”
With welded deck designs in 36-, 48-, 52- and 60-inch sizes, the Pro-Walk now features Gravely’s X-Factor II Deck, a 10-gauge, all-steel welded deck that comes backed with a lifetime warranty. The 10-gauge deck has an integrated wear bar on its front with two additional gussets to guard against the leading edge and to prevent baffle bending. The deeper deck also allows grass to move more freely through the space.
The new deck level system’s design requires a four-point adjustment, reducing parts by 50 percent. The deck level system also eliminates deck hanger welds for a flat deck, and a flip-up deck pin was added for easy access to the top of the deck.
The new Pro-Walk’s controls allow for a neutral operator position to reduce wrist and arm fatigue. Adjustable handlebars provide four height positions to accommodate operators of any size, a wide wheelbase provides hillside stability and the flip-up side discharge chute increases maneuverability and reduces damage to the surrounding environment, the company said.
Gravely’s constant-belt tensioning system comes standard on the Pro-Walk. By maintaining a constant belt tension, the system produces a consistent blade tip speed, eliminates belt slippage, improves engine efficiency, reduces the load and eliminates spring adjustments, according to the company.
The new Pro-Walk also features the Hydro-Gear ZT-2800 transmission, which includes a 1-inch axle, supports speeds of up to 8 mph and is positioned on the machine to provide a lower center of gravity for increased hillside stability.
It includes 20-inch rear tires and puncture-proof semi-pneumatic front tires and is available with Kawasaki engine options.
Units start at a list price of $6,989 and will be available for purchase beginning in January 2018.
Yamaha adds carbureted V-Twin Engines to lawn and garden line
Yamaha Motor Corp. added its new carbureted V-Twin engines, the MX825V and the MX800V, for the zero-turn-radius (ZTR) lawn mowers.
“Yamaha brings industry-leading performance, durability and reliability to the ever-growing lawn and garden market in the MX-V series of engines,” said Derek Schoeberle, outdoor power equipment business planning manager of Yamaha. “The expansion of the MX-V line with the new carbureted models delivers greater options to an industry with a variety of needs.”
Yamaha’s new MX-V carbureted engines are designed for high fuel efficiency to increase ZTR mower run time. The vertical V-twin engines feature power and torque curves, providing an even cut with consistent speeds, even in difficult high-grass conditions, Yamaha said.
An optional stainless steel muffler is tuned for optimal sound and performance and improves operator comfort, the company said. The new muffler is included in Yamaha’s three-year engine warranty.
The MX-V carbureted engines will be available on ZTR mowers in early 2018.
