Exmark releases diesel mower, new technology

|

Exmark launched a commercial diesel mower with a new engine management software at GIE+EXPO in Louisville, Ky., Oct. 18-20.

Featured on the company’s new zero-turn ride-on Lazer Z Diesel, Red Technology is designed to give users an increased ability to control mower power and efficiency with defined performance modes, the company said. Controlled from a console-mounted LCD monitor screen, the software monitors vital mower functions and reports operating and property statistics, maintenance reminders and troubleshooting information. Operating at a lower RPM also saves users in fuel costs, the company added.

“Red Technology works with the electronic fuel injection and e-g overnor technologies to increase engine responsiveness and reduce governor droop, so it can more quickly adapt to changing mowing conditions,” said Jamie Briggs, Exmark product manager. “This ability to deliver the right amount of power at the right time keeps engine RPM more consistent on a RED-equipped machine.”

In addition to Red Technology, the Lazer Z diesel features a 96-inch UltraCut Flex Wingcutting deck and Yanmar liquid-cooled diesel engine that syncs with the software system.

“Capable of mowing in excess of 10 acres per hour, the 96-inch model is the most productive diesel mower Exmark has ever built,” said Daryn Walters, Exmark director of marketing. “As a result, the Lazer Z Diesel is the ideal choice for municipalities, universities, landscape contractors and others that need a highly productive, versatile, efficient and durable mower to maintain vast expanses of turf.”

The mower’s UltraCut Flex Wing cutting deck is a rear-discharge design featuring a 48-inch center deck with two 24-inch wing decks — a 96-inch total cutting width. Both wing decks can hydraulically raise 20 degrees and drop 15 degrees for use on uneven terrain, as well as to reduce the amount of unnecessary trailer space. A 96-inch Lazer Z Diesel fits on most trailers designed for 72-inch zero-turn riders, according to the company.

In addition to the large 96-inch UltraCut Flex Wing cutting deck, the Lazer Z Diesel is available with Exmark’s 60- or 72-inch UltraCut cutting decks in side or rear discharge configurations.

Red Technology is also available for the gas-powered Lazer Z with a Kawasaki engine.
