Last week, Arnulfo Hinojosa, vice president of the Federation of Employees & Workers of America (FEWA), and Jarrod Sharp, general counsel at FEWA, spoke about the H-2B issue. Since that time, the Department of Labor (DOL) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a statement saying they are working to issue a joint Interim Final Rule, which would update the 2008 processing rules by April 30. They also announced they are trying to determine whether processing can continue during the period of time before an Interim Final Rule.
In this episode of Landscape Live, Jody Shilan and Gail Woolcott updated listeners on the decision by the DOL and the DHS to temporarily suspend the H2-B program. Thanks to everybody’s participation fighting this issue, things are now moving in the right direction; however, there is still more work to do.
