Lawn care operators seeking a solution to treat pesky mosquitoes have a new option. Envu’s Barricor Essential Mosquito Control is formulated and tested to meet evolving industry needs, according to the company. The FIFRA 25(b) essential-oil-based insecticide is designed to deliver a 24-hour mortality rate for Aedes mosquitoes — all while being safe for bees and butterflies.

“In the years following COVID-19, the desire to spend more time outdoors has only grown, making outdoor living spaces more important than ever,” said Shawn Mullen, entomologist and key account manager, Envu Mosquito Management. “Lawn care operators have a unique opportunity to help customers create safer, more enjoyable environments free from the nuisance and disease risks mosquitoes can bring.”

While homeowners prioritize their outdoor living spaces, the enjoyment is often jeopardized by mosquitoes, causing potential health risks through diseases like West Nile virus, Zika and eastern equine encephalitis.

“As demand grows for eco-friendly mosquito control solutions, we are committed to providing products that meet both performance and environmental compatibility expectations,” said Gokhan Vergon, head of pest management and public health at Envu. “Barricor Essential Mosquito Control is a direct response to the needs of the lawn care operator who requires an effective, reliable and proven solution.”

Barricor’s patent-pending formulation is water-based and made easy to mix, according to the company. The formulation is stable and does not separate over 24 hours, meaning operators don’t need to remix. With no signal word or PPE required (unless required by applicable law, and if so, wear adequate eye protection and gloves), the solution is designed to enhance applicator safety and is safe in a wide range of environments, including residential and commercial outdoor spaces. It has two to four times less active material, meaning less irritation for the operator, less staining and less wear and tear on the equipment.
