Ego introduced the PGX Charging System, a flexible charging solution that, according to the company, scales to the needs of each business. The system is anchored by the PGX commercial charging 1600-watt hub, which mounts in a building, van or trailer, and runs off any standard 15-amp, 120-volt outlet. The 1600-watt hub connects to PGX commercial charging 3-port docks to charge up to 70 Ego 56-volt 2.5Ah ARC Lithium batteries — or up to 15 kWh — overnight.
“Time is money, and uptime is top-of-mind for any landscaping professional, so we needed a charging solution that could help maximize uptime,” said Nick Feld, a senior product manager at Ego. “Our batteries charge faster than they deplete, but we knew we couldn’t take a one-size-fits-all approach to a charging system because no two businesses are alike, and each has its own energy and runtime needs.”
Each PGX commercial charging 3-port dock holds up to three Ego batteries and charges them sequentially, with up to 24 docks connected to a hub. Feld said the hub- and dock-based offering provides landscapers a solution to scale their system more economically.
“At the end of a workday, the landscaper will load up the docks with batteries, and when they come back in the morning to start their day again they’ll be fully charged and ready to grab and go,” Feld added.
Ego also has off-grid DC-DC charging covered with the PGX power bank, which uses a large format 2.2kWh (40Ah) high-capacity battery to charge smaller handheld batteries off the grid for use during the workday. Once fully charged from the 1600-watt Hub, each battery can recharge more than 30Ah of smaller Ego 56-volt ARC Lithium batteries in the field through the power bank.
