The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) held its annual leadership awards program at the Breakfast for Business Success during Great Escape at Atlantis Resort, Bahamas.
Receiving this year’s Lifetime Leadership Award was Dan Foley, LIC, past-president of PLANET.
This award is presented annually to a member of the association who has demonstrated leadership, service and commitment to PLANET and the landscape industry. It honors individuals who have improved the landscape industry, inspired others throughout their careers with their pioneering spirit and demonstrated inventiveness.
Foley’s career in the green industry began as a student at Babson College, when he founded D. Foley Landscape, which The Brickman Group went on to acquire in 2009. In addition to many other committees, Foley has served on PLANET’s board of directors, including as president during the merger of the Associated Landscape Contractors of America and the Professional Lawn Care Association of America that resulted in the birth of PLANET. He also serves as a PLANET Trailblazer.
“Dan’s contributions to PLANET are innumerable,” said Sabeena Hickman, CAE, CMP, CEO of PLANET. “His leadership, friendship, and knowledge have enhanced our industry, and we are grateful for his contributions.”
The inaugural Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award was presented to Janelle Bruland, president and CEO of Management Services Northwest. Bruland’s company has been named one of the fastest growing private companies in the nation by Inc. magazine. In the past seven years, she has grown her company four times in size, expanded into five states, and has added more than 200 employees to her team.
The Association Leadership Award was presented to the Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado (ALCC). ALCC, under the leadership of Executive Director Kristen Fefes, has been an active state association member of PLANET for many years. Each year, the six ALCC chapters complete numerous Day of Service projects across the state of Colorado, plus ALCC is a large proponent of the Landscape Industry Certified Technician–Exterior designation.
“ALCC has been a great supporter of PLANET and our industry over the years,” Hickman said. “They are a leading association and are making positive impact in the landscape industry. We have enjoyed their partnership with us on a variety of programs, including the AEF, Day of Service and certification.”
