Central Turf & Irrigation Supply opened its first location in Delaware, near the Maryland border.
The Delmar location — supporting contractors on the Delmarva Peninsula — will offer local industry professionals two large, fully stocked warehouses with products from leading manufacturers; an easy-loading entrance; access to category experts and resources for business success.
“As a former contractor, I understand the importance of being able to get the product you need, when you need it. That’s why our warehouses focus on the needs of our local customers,” said Bernardo Luciano, president of Central Turf & Irrigation Supply. “We keep our warehouses fully stocked with the right local inventory so our customers can complete the jobs they’re working on. We are excited to be able to serve and support new and existing customers in the area with solutions across irrigation, landscape, and more.”
Project EverGreen and its donor and volunteer partners delivered an inspirational gift to Bronx residents with a renovation of the Wishing Well Community Garden in the Bronx.
The two-day renovation project took place in August and revitalized the 15,000-square-foot garden that serves as a vibrant community gathering space, vegetable garden, outdoor classroom and oasis from the heat of New York. The donation was valued at $50,000.
“Project EverGreen and its partners were pleased to provide the Wishing Well gardeners and visitors with easy entry and access from the front to the back of the garden,” said Cindy Code, executive director of Project EverGreen. “Pavers were provided to the garden in 2019 but remained unused because of lack of resources to install them. Professional volunteers stepped up to share their knowledge and skills and complete the walkway.”
Project EverGreen volunteers worked in partnership with NYC Parks Green Thumb to renovate, improve and expand access to the garden. Accessibility is particularly important at Wishing Well as several gardeners are wheelchair users. Neighborhood residents plant a variety of fruits and vegetables in the garden to feed their families and share with families in their community.
Volunteers, including Brian Tauscher from Artisan Gardens in Ridgewood, New Jersey, and Mike Darling of Mike Darling Construction in Albany, N.Y., provided crews to excavate the existing entrance, install base material and then seal the pavers in place. Existing diamond grid was repurposed adjacent to the pathway to create level areas for picnic tables, grills and chairs.
Donated plants were installed at the entrance and along the walkway to enhance the garden and attract neighborhood residents to the community garden which serves as a community hub and respite from the heat of the city.
The garden’s trees were pruned, and new perennials and shrubs were added to the landscape.
The project included:
- Excavating a new walkway
- Laying base material and compacting it
- Cutting and installing pavers to create new, accessible path from front to back of the garden
- Leveling and reinstalling diamond Grid throughout garden
- Pruning trees
- Installing perennials and shrubs
- Mulching
This is the seventh GreenCare for Communities project in New York City and New Jersey since 2014. Previous projects have included Liberty Island (2014), Neighbors of Vega Baja (2017), Steven B. Paterson Filed, Hazlet, N.J. (2017), Clinton Community Garden (2019), Jackie Robinson Community Garden (2020) and Carolina Community Garden (2020).
Donors and in-kind sponsors for the project included Lead Donor ConEdison, New York City Department of Parks and Recreation/Green Thumb Community Gardens Initiative, Artisan Garden Landscape Construction, Diamond Grid USA, Plant Detectives, Mike Darling Construction, Cast Lighting and Turfs Up Radio.

Ecologel has been named a recipient of the 2021 Water Quality and Resource Awards in the Conservation and Water Reuse category by the North Florida Green Chamber of Commerce.
The Green Chamber awards recognize examples of water quality improvement and conservation that best demonstrates significant, lasting and measurable excellence in water quality improvement or in prevention of water quality degradation by Green Chamber members and other businesses in North Florida.
Ecologel’s flagship product, Hydretain is designed to drastically reduce watering requirements of turfgrasses, trees, shrubs, flowers, indoor and outdoor plants and agriculture by as much as 50 percent. This translates into water conservation, reduced costs and labor and healthier more vigorous greenery.

LandCare hosted over 120 management shareholders from across the company, along with their significant others, in San Diego this past September. The event was the first of its kind for LandCare. The company said the celebration honored the hard work of team members across the organization.
“Since our leadership employees are the controlling shareholders of the business, it’s easy for us to put support for our employees first and know that good results will follow when we do,” stated Mark Hopkins, executive vice president for LandCare. “It’s what can happen when the business is owned and run by landscape professionals who grew up in the industry.”
The recent gathering was the first time many had traveled since the beginning of the pandemic. The celebration included a welcome reception, small group dinners, tours and activities around the city and a gala at Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres, with a special video presentation.
“I’m so proud of the people all across this company who drove these accomplishments. We are so driven to look ahead and focus on continued improvement, it was nice to take a moment to reflect on our success so far, and to recognize how much opportunity lies ahead for the business and each of our team members individually. Even more special was sharing that moment together with all of our leaders and their spouses. I can’t imagine what this event will look like a few years from now, but it is going to be incredible,” said Robert Barber, executive vice president of operations.
