GAITHERSBURG, MD.—On Oct. 19, for its annual Corporate Founder’s Day service project, about 40 employees with the Brickman Group provided their services to the City of Gaithersburg. The group assisted with landscaping improvements to the traffic circle and median strips on Education Boulevard near Gaithersburg High School and Bohrer Park.
The Brickman Group worked with Public Works staff in reviewing design plans and choosing a site location. City staff removed and transplanted existing landscaping prior to the project, and provided equipment and help as needed throughout the day. The project was completed in about four hours, and the newly redesigned areas now boast a variety of plants including crape myrtle, salvia, liriope and hollies.
“Due to the enthusiastic efforts of Brickman, in conjunction with staff from Public Works, the project went very well and the entrance to the Activity Center and Gaithersburg High School has been transformed into a welcoming sight for students and visitors,” says Public Works Supervisor Mark Kober.
“Our Corporate team was very proud and pleased to have partnered with the City for this year’s project,” says Karla Halloran, project coordinator. “It was great to be able to make a positive impact on the community where we work, and we hope those who pass through the traffic circle will find it a safe and pleasing landscape that enhances their day.”
Founder’s Day is a long-standing Brickman tradition, established to honor the memory and values of the company’s founder, Theodore Brickman, Sr., who dedicated his life to being of service.
