The Turf and Ornamental business of Bayer, within the company’s Crop Science division, has announced its first cost-in-use calculator for both Specticle Flo and Specticle G, the Specticle Cost-in-Use Calculator.
The new tool will help lawn care operators (LCOs) make more informed business decisions by calculating the overall cost of different herbicide programs. With this new tool available online, LCOs will enter a product’s package size, price per package, rate per acre and length of control, and the cost-in-use calculator will display the monthly cost per acre, enabling LCOs to identify the most cost-effective solutions on the market.
“Users look at cost and say, ‘That is expensive,’ but it’s really about what it costs them to use the product,” said John Wendorf, customer marketing manager for Lawn and Landscape. “Just because a bag is cheaper, you have to take into consideration the length of control.”
The tool isn’t just about Bayer’s product, he adds, emphasizing that LCOs can input any product into the calculator to determine how much the product costs them per acre, per month.
The cost-in-use calculator will allow LCOs to input data to discover the most cost-effective products for their operations.
“We consistently hear from lawn care operators looking for ways to make the most of their budget, labor and time,” Wendorf said. “We developed this calculator to give LCOs the ability to truly compare herbicide programs and discover cost savings — across both budget and labor — for their business.”
