Atticus, a Cary, N.C-based manufacturer and marketer of branded and proprietary post-patent pesticide technologies for crop and non-crop professionals, introduced Quasar 8.5 SL, a new product that contains the active ingredient Acetamiprid, a neonicotinoid insecticide.
The products will serve as a viable, EPA-recognized alternative where pollination impact is a concern, the company said.
In turf and ornamental applications, Quasar 8.5 SL controls key ornamental and greenhouse pests including aphids, beetles, leaf miners, scales, whiteflies and thrips.
Its active ingredient works on contact and through ingestion to control target insects at all life stages. Quasar 8.5 SL rapidly absorbs into the plant tissue and immediately moves via systemic and translaminar activity, providing protection to the entire leaf for up to four weeks, according to Atticus.
“We’re excited to offer our distributors and their customers a viable alternative to the other Acetamiprid options,” said Mitch Klann, president of Atticus. “This offering is an excellent extension of our broadening portfolio and commitment to bringing quality, high-value pesticide alternatives forward.”
