Arborjet welcomed two new team members and created urban forest tech teams.
New hires
Srdjan Acimovic joined the company’s research and development team, where he will support leadership in managing invasive pests and support plant health across the country, particularly focusing in the plant disease and equipment development. A Ph.D. candidate in plant pathology at Michigan State University (MSU), Acimovic has held a number of graduate research positions and done extensive work with trunk injection systems. His research at the Nichols Research Lab at MSU included rigorous study of the impact of trunk injection in orchards, including recent work with Apple Scab and Fire Blight.
Marianne Waindle will serve as technical products manager at Arborjet. As a researcher, horticulturalist, technical sales specialist and product development manager for companies such as The Davey Tree Expert Co. and Mauget, Waindle brings to Arborjet years of experience and a thorough understanding of the plant health care industry. Waindle will work with the sales and marketing teams, support Arborjet’s existing technical sales effort and support Arborjet’s education initiatives. Marianne holds a Bachelor of Science in ornamental horticulture and plant pathology and a Masters in plant protection and pest management from the University of Georgia.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome Srdjan and Marianne to Arborjet,” said Russ Davis, president and CEO. “The new ideas and comprehensive knowledge each of them brings to the company supports our commitment to leading innovation and customer service. Srdjan’s presence greatly increases our ability to pursue solutions to plant diseases which are a growing concern across the country. Given the depth and breadth of Marianne’s industry experience, we fully expect that you will see her influence as we continue to build our business throughout the United States.”
Urban forest tech teams
In response to invasive pests and diseases destructing urban forests, Arborjet’s regionalized and corporate tech teams are offering their talent and local support for municipalities to tackle the problem. Teams, aka urban forest tech teams, are composed of urban forestry specialists, certified arborists, pest control advisers and Ph.D.s in pathology and entomology. They are supported by access to laboratories, third party collaborators and planning tools including proprietary apps available from the Apple App Store and Google Play. Many services are funded by grants or done as a courtesy for clients at no charge.
