In January, an executive of a Rhode Island-based landscape and nursery company pleaded guilty in federal court for orchestrating a scheme to avoid paying union benefits and falsifying unemployment documents.

7. TruGreen: ‘Milestone merger’ is complete

TruGreen completed its merger with Scotts LawnService, a former subsidiary of The Scotts Miracle-Gro Co., in April.

8. Consultant Vander Kooi dies

Construction and landscape industry consultant Charles Vander Kooi died in March at the age of 68. See how colleagues and industry members paid their respects.

9. SiteOne acquires Hydro-Scape

In January, SiteOne Landscape Supply acquired Hydro-Scape Products, an irrigation sprinkler store and landscape supplier with 17 locations in Southern California.
