6. Exec pleads guilty to cheating staff out of pay, falsifying documents
In January, an executive of a Rhode Island-based landscape and nursery company pleaded guilty in federal court for orchestrating a scheme to avoid paying union benefits and falsifying unemployment documents.
7. TruGreen: ‘Milestone merger’ is complete
TruGreen completed its merger with Scotts LawnService, a former subsidiary of The Scotts Miracle-Gro Co., in April.

8. Consultant Vander Kooi dies
