Caterpillar rolled out several new products at the 2016 GIE+EXPO, including the 304.5E2 XTC mini hydraulic excavator and a Straight Snow Push.
The 304.5E2 XTC is the first model in the Xtra Tool Carrier (XTC) lineup. The machine has a skid-steer coupler interface, allowing for use of compact loader tools such as a general purpose bucket, multipurpose bucket, forks, dozer blade, brooms, power box rakes and trenchers. Coupler operation is controlled through a XTC switch on the right-hand console in the operator station, then the standard right-hand joystick becomes the loader.
The 304.5E2 XTC also includes standard features of the E2 model lineup such as the automatic two-speed, pilot controls, bucket rotation and blade float. The Compass monitor includes a passcode-protected security system, adjustable auxiliary flow control, site reference system all as standard. There is a rearview camera option, as well.
Finally, a mechanical or hydraulic quick coupler for the excavator front linkage is available for accommodating work tools such as augers and hydraulic hammers, and a thumb-ready stick is standard.

The new Straight Snow Push without trip is available for Caterpillar skid-steer loaders, compact-track loaders, multi-terrain loaders and compact-wheel loaders. The new snow push is available in 8-, 10- and 12-foot widths and features a bolt-on rubber cutting edge that is reversible.
The Snow Push also features a moldboard specially profiled to roll and fold snow, while the adjustable, bolt-on skid shoes allow adjusting the height of the cutting edge.
For safety when entering or leaving the cab, the Snow Push uses an integrated serrated step. An optional back-drag, available with either a rubber or steel edge, allows snow to be pulled away from such obstacles as loading docks and doors.
As well at GIE+EXPO, Caterpillar released a new line of portable generators called the RP Series, with four standard models, ranging from 3.6 to 7.5 kW as well as California-specific variations. The RP Series is now available in the U.S. and Canada through a select number of regional and local retailers and traditional Caterpillar dealers.
