My Service Depot, the developer of the Smart Service software, launched its Smart Service Scholarship Fund. Administered by the Delaware County Foundation, the Smart Service Scholarship Fund awards $1,000 twice a year—spring and fall semesters—to students entering into, or continuing their education in, skilled trades education and training programs, such as landscape design.
Interested students must submit a short written or video essay—no more than five minutes in length—explaining why they chose to pursue a career in a skilled trade profession. Possible topics for the submission include:
- Why your chosen field is of interest to you;
- How will the Smart Service Scholarship advance your goals; or
- What role do you see technology playing in the industry that you’re pursuing.
The applicant must be attending or planning to attend an accredited program, certificate program or degree program, which may be a four year or non-four year program, in the skilled trades or a related field in 2017 as either a full-time or part-time student. Additionally, the applicant must have graduated high school during the past 15 years or will have graduated high school at the time of receiving the award with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
The deadline for the 2017 spring semester is Nov. 10. Winners will be announced Dec. 16. Scholarship awards will be available for qualified educational expenses and paid directly to the recipient’s educational institution.
