Ewing Irrigation’s Memphis, Tenn., branch manager Wade Stewart garnered $10,000 in donations for the St. Jude Dream Home in Memphis. Donations—including irrigation, low-voltage lighting, drainage and landscape products and installation work—came from Ewing, Hunter Industries, JM Eagle, Lasco Fittings, Central Sales Co., FX Luminaire, Page Electric, Holganix, Southern Landscape Services, Mid-South Irrigation and Landscape and Bartlett Landscape Spray. Residents of Tennessee can enter for a chance to win the Dream Home by buying a ticket for the June 26 drawing. Proceeds go to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Eastern Land Management (ELM) is celebrating its 40th anniversary. ELM started as a two-person business and has since grown to nearly 100 employees. “To this day, the landscape service industry is labor dependent, and has been, and continues to be, the single-largest challenge for a landscaping business,” said Moore, President/CEO, of ELM. “But as ELM is driven upon its entrepreneurial spirit, we have constantly pushed new boundaries. This year, in honor of its 40th anniversary, ELM is offering pro bono landscape services to the development of the new Fairfield County Hospice House (FCHH).
Case Construction Equipment and CNH Industrial donated the use of a SV300 skid-steer to the eighth annual Greater Milwaukee Victory Garden Blitz, helping to move more than 550 yards of soil and achieve a record-breaking installation of 555 gardens. The Victory Garden Initiative focuses on empowering communities to grow their own food and re-establish the relationship between human and food ecology. Held in May this year, the initiative now has installed more than 3,000 gardens for communities throughout Milwaukee since the project started in 2009.
Isuzu Commercial Truck of America produced its 30,000th gasoline-powered Isuzu N-Series truck at the Spartan Motors facility in Charlotte, Mich., on June 10. Assembly of Isuzu N-Series gas trucks began at Spartan in April 2011. “Last April, we announced that our partners at Spartan Motors had produced their 20,000th gas-powered Isuzu truck in only four years,” said Shaun Skinner, president of Isuzu Commercial Truck of America. “Now, only a year later, we celebrate another 10,000 trucks produced.”
The Grasshopper Co. earned the 2016 Dealer’s Choice Award for the Outdoor Power Equipment manufacturer category for use in commercial and residential applications for turf, lawn or grounds maintenance. Unveiled at the Equipment Dealers Association (EDA), this is the second consecutive year Grasshopper has won the award, per North American dealers’ choice. The awards are presented annually to manufacturers who receive exemplary ratings in EDA’s Dealer-Manufacturer Relations Survey of 12 key categories.
